Tally.
Record a meeting on your Mac. Get back a transcript with real speaker names, a summary and action items.
curl -fsSL https://tally.nipalm.com/install.sh | bash
Paste it into Terminal (in Applications → Utilities) and press Return. It needs macOS Tahoe (26) or later and an EnPalm account with access to Tally. After that, Tally keeps itself up to date: when there's a new version, its menu bar icon gets a dot, and Update in its menu installs it.
What the command does
Tally isn't in the App Store, so your Mac builds it from source. That's why there are no "unidentified developer" warnings. The command:
- Checks for macOS 26, and installs Apple's Command Line Tools if they're missing. They bring Swift, and macOS shows its own dialog for them.
- Downloads Tally's source (under 1 MB) and checks it against the checksum in the script.
- Creates a code-signing certificate called Tally Local in your login keychain, once. macOS keeps Tally's microphone and system-audio permissions from one version to the next because every build carries the same signature.
- Builds Tally, in a minute or two, puts it in Applications and opens it.
Want to read the script first? It's here. It doesn't use sudo. Installing the Command Line Tools may ask for an administrator's password, and if your keychain is locked, macOS asks for your Mac password. It writes to Applications, your login keychain and ~/Library/Logs/Tally/install.log.
The first time
- Find Tally in the menu bar. It's a T. at the top right of your screen, and a welcome window opens alongside it.
- Sign in with your EnPalm account. A sign-in sheet opens, and Tally keeps you signed in, so you'll rarely need to do it again.
- Start a recording. macOS asks twice: once for the microphone and once to record what your Mac plays (the other people on a call). Allow both.
- Keychain: after an install or update, macOS may ask whether Tally may use its saved sign-in. Enter your Mac password and choose Always Allow.
- Stop the recording when the meeting ends. Tally sends it, and a few minutes later the summary is ready. Allow notifications when asked, and Tally tells you.
- Confirm who spoke under People on the meeting's page. Listen to a clip, then pick or name the person. Tally recognises that voice in later meetings.
You can record without signing in, or with no network. Recordings wait on your Mac and are sent once you're signed in. Each one is deleted from your Mac when its summary is ready. To have Tally start with your Mac, tick Open at login at the bottom of its menu.
